About Seth
Seth Goettelman is an attorney admitted to practice in multiple state and federal jurisdictions. He holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, earned in 2002. That academic foundation preceded a career that has involved work across state lines and matters that touch on both trial and appellate procedure.
His legal training at Wisconsin set the stage for bar admissions in Wisconsin and other states. He is authorized to appear in Minnesota, Illinois and Florida courts, and he is also admitted to the bar of the U.S. Supreme Court. Those credentials allow him to handle matters that require coordination among different courts and forums.
Over the years Goettelman has handled matters that require careful attention to procedural detail and to the differing rules that apply in state and federal systems. Colleagues describe him as methodical in courtroom preparation and precise in legal writing. He has worked on cases that span jurisdictions, which has kept him engaged with evolving questions of jurisdiction, venue and appellate strategy.
Goettelman’s practice includes work in litigation and related areas where cross-border issues arise. He advises clients on procedural options, prepares filings for trial and appellate courts, and consults on strategies when cases move between states or reach the federal level. His admission to the U.S. Supreme Court bar also gives him the option to participate in matters that reach the nation’s highest court.
He joined Quarles & Brady LLP, where he works alongside partners and associates handling complex litigation matters. At the firm he contributes to teams that manage multi-jurisdictional disputes and regulatory questions. His role often involves coordinating filings, drafting briefs and preparing witnesses for testimony in courts across the jurisdictions where he is licensed.
Outside of the courtroom, Goettelman has maintained ties to the legal community through continuing education and professional engagement in the states where he holds admission. He keeps current on developments in federal and state procedure and on decisions that affect cross-jurisdictional practice.
He continues to practice at Quarles & Brady LLP, representing clients in matters that require coordinated legal work across Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Florida and federal courts, including matters that may reach the U.S. Supreme Court.
