About Sean Patrick
Sean Patrick Murphy built his legal path deliberately. He completed a Bachelor of Business Administration at Western Michigan University in 2011 and earned his J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 2014. Those years framed a practical approach to law, combining business training with courtroom practice.
He began his post-law school career as a judicial law clerk at the Michigan Supreme Court in 2014. The clerkship exposed him to high-level legal reasoning and the mechanics of appellate review. After that year, he entered private practice as an associate at Shifman & Carlson, PC in 2015, where he handled litigation tasks and supported trial preparation across a range of disputes.
By 2018 Murphy moved to a boutique litigation firm. There he took on more direct client work and courtroom appearances. The boutique setting offered frequent trial exposure and a chance to shepherd cases from pleading through trial. Those years sharpened his courtroom skills and expanded his familiarity with Michigan civil procedure.
In 2021 he launched Murphy Law Office PLC and became its founder and managing partner. As the firm’s leader he oversees case strategy, client intake, and courtroom advocacy. The office operates in Michigan and serves clients who need representation in contested matters. He built the practice around hands-on litigation and personalized client service.
Murphy is active in professional circles. He is a member of the Incorporated Society of Irish American Lawyers and the Oakland County Bar Association. Those memberships reflect ongoing engagement with peers and local bar events. They also provide regular opportunities for continuing legal education and professional networking.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in case preparation and direct in court. He favors careful pleadings, thorough discovery, and decisive trial advocacy. He has worked on matters at different stages of litigation, from contested discovery disputes to trial docket work. That background informs how he allocates resources and prepares clients for the arc of litigation.
Outside the courtroom his business background informs client counseling. He draws on that training when assessing damages, settlement valuation, and litigation budgeting. He remains based in Michigan and manages the firm’s day-to-day operations while taking an active role in litigation.
He now serves as founder and managing partner of Murphy Law Office PLC, where he handles civil litigation matters for clients in Michigan.
