About Scott William
Scott William Hyder graduated from the Sandra Day O Connor College of Law at Arizona State University in 1993. He completed his legal studies in the early 1990s and entered the practice environment that followed a few years later. The law school experience left him with a grounding in practice skills and a steady interest in debtor-creditor law.
He became a member of the State Bar of Arizona in 1996 and is admitted to practice in Arizona and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Those admissions have framed a career that moves between courtroom work and transactional matters tied to consumer finance and real estate.
Hyder began his professional practice as an associate at Fennemore Craig, P.C., in 1998. He moved into in-house work in 2003 when he served as counsel at D.R. Horton. Two years later he set up his own practice. Since 2005 he has operated the Law Office of Scott W. Hyder, PLC as a sole practitioner, handling matters that arise at the intersection of consumer finance and property issues.
Alongside private practice Hyder has taken on teaching and professional leadership roles. He has taught as an adjunct professor of law at Arizona Summit Law School since 2012 and has been an instructor at the Arizona School of Real Estate since 2009. He has also been active in bar and professional organizations. He serves as a director of the Arizona Consumer Bankruptcy Council and has been a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys since 2009. He joined the Arizona Inn of Court as a barrister in 2011. He is listed as an AARP Preferred Lawyer and is a participating lawyer for Union Plus, statuses he has held since 2008. Hyder has maintained membership in the Maricopa County Bar Association since 1996.
The bulk of his practice involves consumer bankruptcy matters and related insolvency and creditor-debtor disputes. His professional roles in bankruptcy organizations reflect steady engagement with that area of law. He also handles matters tied to consumer real estate transactions, informed in part by his teaching at the Arizona School of Real Estate.
As of 2026 Hyder continues to operate his solo practice, handling consumer bankruptcy and related creditor-debtor and consumer real estate matters.
