About Scott Maxwell
Scott Maxwell Chapman earned a J.D. from South Texas College of Law after completing undergraduate and graduate study at the University of Houston–Victoria. He holds both a B.S. and an M.A. from that institution, and began his collegiate work with an A.A. from Brookhaven College. That mix of general and advanced study preceded his move into law school.
Chapman's professional record in private practice begins in public filings and firm rosters in the mid-2010s. In 2016 he worked as a lawyer at Placzek Law, PLLC, a firm that had previously operated under the name Guariglia & Placzek, PLLC. By 2020 he was listed as operating under his own name, Scott Maxwell Chapman, Lawyer-at-Law. More recently he has practiced through Chapman Law Group, PLLC, which serves as his current office affiliation.
His admissions include the State of Texas and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Those credentials allow him to undertake matters in state courts and to appear on appeals in the federal appellate system that covers Texas and neighboring states. Over the course of his practice he has worked inside and outside the courthouse, advising clients and appearing in filings and hearings where required.
Colleagues and records portray a practitioner who has moved steadily through private practice roles since the mid-2010s. The progression from an associate role at a regional firm to operating under his own name and then practicing through a named group reflects a common path in small-firm litigation and counsel work. He has combined court appearances, brief writing and client advising in the roles he has held.
