Scott M. Reddie is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1994. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Reddie is a partner and chair of the Appellate Litigation Practice Group at McCormick Barstow LLP, a law firm located in Fresno, California. He has been practicing law for over 30 years, serving clients throughout the San Joaquin Valley and beyond.
Mr. Reddie earned his Juris Doctor degree from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1994. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Los Angeles, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 1991. During his time at Pepperdine, he was actively involved in moot court competitions, honing his skills in appellate advocacy.
Mr. Reddie specializes in appellate law, focusing on handling appeals and writs in both state and federal courts, including bankruptcy appeals. His practice encompasses various areas of law, such as real estate, title insurance, business disputes, employment, professional and medical malpractice, probate, water law, family law, construction defects, and personal injury. He is involved in all stages of litigation, including drafting critical motions, trial briefs, motions in limine, special jury instructions, and special verdict forms; conducting legal research during trial; consulting with trial counsel to preserve claims of error; and advising on post-trial motions and judgments.
Throughout his career, Mr. Reddie has been lead counsel on hundreds of appeals and has handled numerous oral arguments, including the first en banc oral argument at the Ninth Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel. He is admitted to practice law before the United States Supreme Court, all California courts, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal, and the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Central, Northern, and Southern Districts of California. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions.
Mr. Reddie is an active member of the State Bar of California and the California Academy of Appellate Lawyers. He has served on the Advisory Committee on Appellate Courts for the California Lawyers Association Litigation Section from 2015 to 2019 and was a member of the Appellate Committee of the Federal Bar Association's Federal Litigation Section. He is also a certified Appellate Law Specialist by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. In addition to his professional activities, Mr. Reddie volunteers as a brief grader for the annual Roger J. Traynor California Moot Court Competition for California law schools. He is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of the San Joaquin Valley effectively.
