About Scott

Scott Kitch built his legal path around tax and economic study. He began at the University of Washington, where he earned a B.A. in economics in 2006. He completed a J.D. at Seattle University School of Law in 2010 and followed that with an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Washington School of Law in 2011.

Those academic choices shaped the work he would pursue. The LL.M. program deepened his technical knowledge of federal taxation, while the economics background gave him a way to approach client problems that involves numbers as well as law. Classwork and advanced tax study provided training in statutory interpretation, regulations and the practical mechanics of tax compliance.

Early in his career he moved into practice that involved tax matters and related financial issues. Over time he translated his academic training into client work. He handles tax questions that range from compliance and planning to dispute resolution. He also advises on issues where tax law and business decisions intersect, relying on his undergraduate training in economics to frame cost-benefit considerations.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in his approach to complex tax problems. He breaks large, technical matters into manageable parts and focuses on the immediate legal questions. In doing so, he works with individuals, small businesses and professionals who need clear answers about tax obligations and planning choices.

He practices through Kitch Law Office. The firm provides a setting for his tax practice and related legal services. He continues to update his knowledge as rules and guidance change, and he applies that learning to the types of tax issues clients bring to his office.

Outside the office his record shows continued engagement with the legal community through professional memberships. That activity keeps him current on developments in tax law and regulation. In his current practice he concentrates on tax law and matters that involve the financial and regulatory aspects of client decisions.
