About Scott Andrew
Scott Andrew Gorman built a career that moves from an Ivy League undergraduate degree to courtroom work in New Jersey. He earned a B.S. from Cornell University in 1997, where he studied Urban and Regional Studies. He returned to New Jersey for law school and received his J.D. from Rutgers School of Law–Newark in 2002.
After law school, Gorman spent time inside the judiciary. In 2004 he served as a judicial law clerk for the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division. That year in chambers gave him a close look at appellate procedure and judicial decision-making. The clerkship helped shape how he approaches legal research and argument.
Gorman moved into private practice soon after. He began associating with local bar groups and criminal defense circles. In 2011 he opened The Gorman Law Office. He has practiced in both New Jersey and New York jurisdictions. In 2011 he also joined the National College for DUI Defense and the New Jersey Bar Association. Earlier memberships include the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers beginning in 2009 and the Bergen County Bar Association beginning in 2007.
His peers know him for work in municipal court and DUI matters. He earned certification as a Certified Municipal Court Law Lawyer from the Supreme Court of New Jersey. He was a founding member of the DUI Defense Lawyers Association in 2014 and remains active in that organization. Those affiliations reflect sustained involvement in the technical and procedural aspects of traffic and municipal cases.
Gorman’s practice covers criminal defense, DUI and traffic offenses, and municipal court litigation. He draws on appellate experience when cases require review beyond the trial level. He handles case investigation, pretrial motions, plea discussions, and trials when necessary. He also advises clients on collateral consequences such as license implications and municipal penalties.
Colleagues describe him as thorough in preparation and straightforward in court. He has balanced caseloads that often include repeat municipal matters and contested DUI hearings. Outside court, he keeps current through continuing legal education and participation in professional organizations devoted to DUI and criminal defense.
He now practices at The Gorman Law Office in Morristown, handling DUI defense, municipal court litigation, and related criminal matters.
