Scot Andrew Candell is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1994. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Candell is the managing partner at the Law Offices of Scot Candell, a firm located in San Rafael, California. He has been practicing law for over 30 years, serving clients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and surrounding regions.
Mr. Candell earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, where he graduated in 1994. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at Tufts University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree. During his time at UC Berkeley, he was actively involved in legal clinics and community outreach programs.
Mr. Candell concentrates his practice in the areas of cannabis law, criminal defense, business law, civil litigation, and labor law. He represents individuals and businesses in matters involving medical marijuana compliance, criminal defense related to cannabis offenses, business formation and transactions, civil disputes, and employment-related issues. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Candell has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Marin, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as an associate at a mid-size litigation firm in San Francisco for several years.
Mr. Candell is an active member of the California State Bar Association and the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML), where he serves as a lifetime member of the Legal Committee. He is also involved in various community organizations, including Rotary International and the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Candell is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of the San Francisco Bay Area effectively.
