About Sayre
Sayre Macneil is a mediator based in Santa Barbara, California. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco, in 1983. Prior to that, he completed his Bachelor of Arts in English at the University of Oregon in 1978. In 2015, he obtained a Certificate in Mediation and Dispute Resolution from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Admitted to the California State Bar in 1984, Macneil has been licensed for over 40 years. His license status is currently "Not Eligible to Practice Law," effective July 1, 2025, due to noncompliance with the California State Bar's Continuing Legal Education (CTAPP) requirements. In addition to his legal practice, Macneil has been actively involved in mediation and dispute resolution. He has served as a volunteer mediator for the Conflict Solutions Center of Santa Barbara County, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing mediation services to the community.
The center, established in 1998, is located at 1530 Chapala St C, Santa Barbara, CA 93101. Macneil has also contributed to the Santa Barbara County Bar Association's Mandatory Fee Arbitration program, which resolves fee disputes between clients and attorneys.
