About Sarah
Sarah Jarboe built a legal career that moved quickly from the state’s highest court to partnership at a regional firm. She arrived in Louisville after undergraduate studies and left law school ready to work in Kentucky’s courts. The early years set a steady tone for the rest of her practice.
She earned her J.D. from Vanderbilt University in 2011 after completing a B.A. at the University of Louisville in 2008. Those academic stops provided classroom and practical foundations in legal research, writing, and advocacy that she carried into public service and private practice.
Her first role after law school was as a law clerk in 2011 to Chief Justice John D. Minton of the Kentucky Supreme Court. The clerkship exposed her to appellate procedure and judicial decision-making. It also offered a close view of how state law develops through written opinions and oral argument.
Jarboe joined English, Lucas, Priest and Owsley, LLP as an associate in 2013. She advanced to partner in 2017. At the firm she handled matters tied to environmental and energy issues, often involving regulatory compliance, permitting, and administrative proceedings. She worked on cases that required interaction with state agencies and, when needed, representation before administrative tribunals. Her work combined statutory interpretation, agency rule review, and client counseling on project development and environmental obligations.
Outside the office she has been active in bar groups that align with her practice. She served on the American Bar Association’s Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources conference planning committees in 2016 and 2017 and took part in the ABA Leadership Development Program in 2014–2015. In Kentucky she chaired the Environment, Energy and Resources law section of the Kentucky Bar Association in 2016–2017. She has also held roles in local bar organizations, including leadership stints with the Bowling Green–Warren County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Committee and its board.
Colleagues and clients describe her as practical and thorough in addressing regulatory and transactional questions. She balances written advocacy and negotiation, and she often advises on risk management tied to environmental compliance. Jarboe continues to practice at English, Lucas, Priest and Owsley, LLP, representing clients on environmental, energy, and resources matters in Kentucky.
