About Sandra Slack

Sandra Slack Glover built her legal foundation at three universities on the East Coast and Midwest. She earned a B.A. in Government from the University of Virginia in 1992, followed by an M.A. in Political Science and Government from Duke University in 1993. She completed her legal training at the University of Chicago Law School, receiving her J.D. in 1997. Those years shaped an approach to law that favors careful analysis and concise writing.

Her career has included significant time in public service. Her résumé lists service at the United States Lawyers Offices, where she served as Appellate Chief in 2010. That role placed her at the center of the office’s appeals work. It also put her in charge of overseeing briefs, preparing arguments, and coordinating with trial teams when cases went up on appeal.

As an appellate lawyer she has handled the mechanics that matters most in higher courts. She has been involved in drafting appellate briefs, preparing record excerpts and motions, and presenting oral argument. In the office setting she managed staff and mentored junior attorneys on standards for appellate advocacy. The work required steady judgment about which issues to press and how to frame them for judges who review lower court records.

Her academic background in government and political science informed the way she frames legal issues. She routinely worked on questions that intersected with federal statutory interpretation, constitutional claims and procedural appeals. The mix of doctrinal and factual complexity in those matters demanded careful legal research and a clear writing style. Colleagues have relied on her for appellate strategy and for setting priorities when multiple appeals overlapped.

Glover’s public-sector work shaped a practice grounded in appellate procedure and courtroom argument. She moved between managing teams and handling her own docket, at times arguing cases in appellate panels and at others guiding broader litigation strategy. That balance reflected the dual demands of supervision and personal advocacy that appellate chiefs often face.

She is admitted to practice in Connecticut and continues to work from the public-sector environment where much of her career has developed. Her current practice concentrates on appellate litigation in federal court at the United States Lawyers Offices.
