About Sana
Sana Abid earned her first law degree at the University of Kent in 2007 and later completed a J.D. at Michigan State University College of Law in 2013. She spent her law school years moving between classrooms and courtrooms. That mix of academic study and hands-on training shaped the early contours of her practice.
Her practical experience began before law school graduation. In 2009 she interned at the Harris County District Lawyer Office. She returned to clinical and public defender work while in law school, serving as a legal intern at a Federal Public Defender's Office in 2011 and acting as a clinician in Michigan State’s Plea and Sentencing Clinic in 2012. She also held a teaching assistant role at the College of Law that year, and undertook an externship at the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia. Those roles exposed her to both domestic criminal defense and the procedures of international criminal law.
The sequence of internships and clinics provided exposure to trial preparation, sentencing hearings, and client counseling. In public defender settings she observed plea negotiations and worked on pretrial matters. At the international tribunal she encountered case files and procedures that differ from domestic courts, an experience that broadened her perspective on evidence and procedure.
After completing her J.D., Abid began practicing in Texas. She is associated with The Law Offices of Richard J. Plezia & Associates, where she has handled matters tied to criminal defense practice. Her responsibilities have included drafting motions, preparing witnesses, and assisting in courtroom proceedings. Colleagues describe her as methodical in case preparation and attentive to procedural detail.
Her academic background and clinical training inform how she approaches cases. She draws on classroom instruction for legal research and relies on courtroom experience for advocacy. The teaching work she did in law school also contributes to how she explains legal issues to clients and juries. Her time at the international tribunal remains a reference point for complex evidentiary questions.
Abid maintains a practice in Texas centered on criminal defense work. She continues to draw on her clinical and externship experience in representing clients and handling courtroom matters.
