About Samuel John

Samuel John Ford earned his J.D. from Tulane University School of Law in 2014. He moved from classroom study into hands-on legal work almost immediately. The law school diploma was the end of one chapter and the start of a string of clerkships and early practice positions that shaped his practical skills.

He spent the summer of 2012 as a law clerk at Southeast Louisiana Legal Services. The following year he worked as a law clerk for The Pro Bono Project. Those early placements put him in contact with clients and community-serving organizations. In 2014 he joined Sessions, Fishman, Nathan & Israel, LLC as a law clerk and later as an associate lawyer. The shift to firm practice expanded his exposure to litigation and client counseling.

Two years after joining private practice he became a partner at Varadi, Hair & Checki, LLC in 2016. That promotion came early in his career. It reflected a quick progression from clerkship roles into positions of responsibility within a firm setting. At each stage he handled filings, courtroom preparation and client communication, tasks that are part of day-to-day litigation practice.

Ford is admitted to practice in Louisiana and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Admission to those jurisdictions shapes the matters he takes and the matters he declines. It also guides where he files appeals and what procedural rules govern his filings.

He maintains memberships in professional organizations and engages with colleagues across the bench and bar. Those relationships inform his approach to cases. They also contribute to a practical understanding of courtroom procedure and appellate practice.

Colleagues describe his work as methodical and detail-oriented, a style suited to contested litigation and appellate briefing. He has moved from legal aid and pro bono projects into private firm practice while keeping an eye on procedural precision. That background gives him familiarity with both client-facing advocacy and complex legal writing.

He became a partner at Varadi, Hair & Checki, LLC in 2016 and continues to practice law. His current practice focuses on matters arising in Louisiana and appeals and proceedings before the Fifth Circuit.
