About Samantha
Samantha Greene came to law from a background in philosophy and a hometown bent toward argument. She earned a B.S. in Philosophy from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1997 and completed her law degree at the University of San Diego School of Law in 2001. Those years set a pattern: clear reasoning, careful record review, and a willingness to take difficult questions into court.
Her legal career began in public defense. In 2000 she worked as a certified law clerk at the San Diego County Office of the Public Defender. That early exposure to client work and courtroom procedure led to a staff attorney position at Steigerwalt & Associates, A.P.L.C., where she joined the firm in 2002. Her experience there broadened into criminal matters and trial preparation, before she moved into a deputy role at the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office in 2009. That position placed her on the other side of the courtroom and deepened her familiarity with prosecutorial practices.
In 2011 Greene took two significant steps in her career. She became a partner at Sevens Legal, APC and also joined Appellate Defensers Inc. as an appellate panel lawyer. Those roles reflected a shift toward appeals and post-conviction work, alongside continued trial practice. She has argued on appeal and briefed complex criminal issues in federal and state courts, including matters in the Federal Circuit and in California jurisdictions.
Greene holds certification from the State Bar of California as a Certified Specialist in Criminal Law. That credential recognizes a practitioner’s demonstrable experience and peer reviews in handling criminal cases. It dovetails with her practical background in both defense and prosecution, and it informs the way she approaches case strategy, evidence review, and sentencing advocacy.
Over the years she has maintained a presence at Sevens Legal, APC, where the firm operates multiple offices and presents itself as a resource for DUI and criminal defense. Greene’s work at the firm includes trial preparation, appellate briefing, and counsel to clients facing serious misdemeanor and felony charges. She also accepts appointments and panel work that require appellate advocacy.
Her courtroom experience, bar certification, and years in county offices shape a practice grounded in criminal defense and appeals. She currently practices at Sevens Legal, APC, focusing on DUI, criminal defense, and appellate matters.
