About Samantha

Samantha Angell built a career that bridges private practice and local public service. She grew up academically focused on politics and law, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of New Mexico in 1995 and a Juris Doctor from Washburn University School of Law in 1999. Those credentials set the stage for a steady presence in the Kansas legal community.

After law school Angell established herself in Salina. Since 2000 she has been a member of Achterberg, Angell & Craft, LLC, a firm where she has practiced for more than two decades. Her membership at the firm marks a long-term professional base in Kansas and a sustained engagement with clients and local legal networks.

Angell’s work has extended beyond the courtroom into governance and nonprofit leadership. She served on the Salina City Commission from 2009 to 2013 and held responsibilities that included time as mayor. She has also taken on roles with several boards: she was on the Kansas Legal Services Board of Directors from 2006 to 2009 and joined the Kansas Board of Indigent Defense in 2013, where she continues to serve. Those positions reflect repeated involvement in issues tied to access to justice and municipal administration.

Her professional associations are numerous and long-standing. She has been a member of the Saline/Ottawa County Bar Association since 2000 and has belonged to the KS Association for Justice since 2003. She joined Noon Network AMBUCS in 2002. In 2014 she became a member of the KS Women’s Lawyers Association and also joined the board of the Salina Montessori School that same year, a role she continues to hold. She served on the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce board from 2008 to 2009.

Colleagues describe Angell as methodical and civic-minded; clients have relied on her steadiness in both legal matters and community projects. Her career shows an interplay between private firm work and public-facing roles, a pattern she maintained over many years. She remains active in professional circles that touch on civil justice and local governance.

She currently practices at Achterberg, Angell & Craft, LLC in Kansas, handling a range of civil and community legal matters.
