About Sam
Sam Cannon studied at Cornell University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts before going on to law school at the University of Colorado Boulder. Those years framed an academic path that combined liberal arts training with professional legal education. He graduated from Colorado and entered the legal profession equipped with the standard tools of research, written advocacy and courtroom procedure.
His career advanced to partnership in 2014 when he joined Cannon Hadfield Stieben & Doutt, LLC as a partner. That step reflected a shift into firm leadership and case management. He has worked in roles that require supervising files, mentoring younger lawyers and coordinating with clients and co-counsel. The partner title points to experience in managing litigation teams and firm operations.
Cannon is admitted to practice in Wyoming, Montana and Colorado. He maintains memberships in organizations that center on trial work, including the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, where he is part of the Eagle New Advocate program, and the American Association for Justice. Those affiliations keep him connected to trial practice developments, continuing education and the statewide and national lawyer communities. He has combined those ties with courtroom experience, offering representation across the Mountain West.
Over the years he has split his time between regional offices. His practice lists a main office and a Cheyenne office under the name Cannon Law. Working out of multiple locations allows him to handle matters that cross state lines and to meet clients where they live and work. Colleagues describe him as pragmatic in approaching discovery and trial preparation, and focused on clear, efficient client communication.
Outside formal roles he participates in bar and trial lawyer events. He attends seminars and workshops sponsored by the groups he belongs to, and he uses those sessions to keep current on procedural and evidentiary changes. That ongoing involvement supports the practical side of litigation: deposition technique, motion practice and courtroom presentation.
He currently practices at Cannon Law, representing clients across Wyoming, Montana and Colorado.
