About Salvatore G.
Salvatore G. Gangemi earned his B.A. in 1990 and his J.D. in 1993 from St. John’s University. He completed both degrees at the same institution and moved into practice in New York soon after graduation. His academic ties to St. John’s endured; he later joined the law school’s alumni board and the Labor and Employment Law Center’s advisory board.
He joined Murtha Cullina LLP and rose through the firm to become a principal in 2005. Over the years he has secured admission to a number of federal and appellate courts, including the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Second and Third Circuits, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is also admitted to practice in New York state courts.
Gangemi has been active in professional and advocacy organizations throughout his career. He holds memberships in the New York State Bar, the American Association for Justice, the National Employment Lawyers Association and its New York chapter, the New York County Lawyers Association, and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. He has served on the executive board of the National Employment Lawyers Association—New York since 2009, joined the Labor and Employment Law Center’s board of advisors in 2010, and has been a member of the St. John’s University School of Law Alumni Board of Directors since 2011.
That array of affiliations reflects the kinds of matters he has handled. His practice encompasses employment and labor disputes at trial and on appeal. He represents clients in federal and state litigation and has litigated matters in appellate courts. His courtroom work and appellate admissions indicate regular engagement with both trial-level and higher-court procedures.
At Murtha Cullina LLP he continues to practice in New York, handling contentious employment issues, wage-and-hour matters, discrimination and retaliation claims, and related litigation. He balances courtroom appearances, appellate briefing, and participation in bar and professional groups. He currently focuses his practice on employment and labor law.
