About Sadie

Sadie Janes earned her J.D. from American University Washington College of Law in 2022 after beginning her studies there in 2019. Her time at the law school coincided with a period of intense practical training across a number of clinics and classroom settings that emphasized client counseling and civil litigation. Classroom work and experiential learning shaped her early approach to practice and introduced her to the procedural side of legal advocacy.

After law school she returned to Colorado to begin her professional career. She is licensed to practice in Colorado and joined Colorado Legal Services, where she has worked on matters commonly handled by civil legal aid offices. Her arrival at the organization came at a time when demand for assistance with housing instability, public benefits, and family-related legal issues was growing across the state.

At Colorado Legal Services Janes has focused on direct client work. That has included intake and screening, drafting pleadings, preparing administrative appeals, and representing clients at hearings. Her caseload has required both immediate, practical problem solving and the ability to prepare longer-term legal strategies. She has handled emergency-level matters as well as cases requiring sustained attention over several months.

Colleagues describe her as methodical in case preparation and straightforward in client communications. She often spends significant time on document review and factual investigation before filing. In hearings she tends to rely on concise presentation of facts and procedural rules. Outside the courtroom she has worked on community outreach efforts and client education projects aimed at helping people understand their rights and options.

Her educational background and early practice have kept her rooted in civil legal assistance rather than commercial or corporate work. She remains based in Colorado and continues to serve low-income clients through her role at Colorado Legal Services. She currently practices civil legal aid and represents Colorado residents through her position at Colorado Legal Services.
