About S. Carlton
S. Carlton Rouse built a career that crosses law and business. He combines a legal education from Northeastern University School of Law with an MBA from Northeastern and an undergraduate degree in political science. His academic record lists a J.D. (2002), an MBA (2002) and a B.S. (1998). Those credentials shaped an approach that treats complex disputes the way a careful manager would: identify the key issues, assess the costs, and choose a path forward.
After law school, Rouse moved into litigation. He has practiced as a litigation lawyer at Rouse & Co. LLC since 2009. Over time he has taken on matters in state and federal forums. He is admitted to practice in Georgia and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. His courtroom work has covered contested hearings, motion practice and trial preparation.
Rouse’s professional life includes sustained participation in local and statewide bar groups. He has been a member of the Georgia Bar Association since 2004 and joined the Atlanta Bar Association in 2010. He also belongs to the Gwinnett, Cobb and Rockdale County bar associations. In Gwinnett he took on leadership duties, serving as president of the Gwinnett County Bar Association from 2017 to 2018. Earlier he served as president of the Gwinnett Minority Bar Association from 2010 to 2011.
Those roles placed him in the day-to-day work of bar governance and local legal programming. He has been involved in membership activities and panels that aim to connect lawyers across counties. The organizational work complements his litigation practice; the two spheres inform each other.
Clients and colleagues describe Rouse as methodical in litigation settings. He prepares filings and court presentations with attention to detail and frames arguments to address legal and factual disputes. He handles procedural strategy as readily as substantive briefing. His practice routinely requires navigating discovery disputes, filing dispositive motions and preparing witnesses for testimony.
Outside court, he balances practice management and client counseling. He runs matters out of Rouse & Co. LLC and oversees case development and staffing on client files. He continues to participate in county and state bar activities and to accept litigation engagements that arise in Georgia and the Eleventh Circuit. He concentrates his current practice on litigation and related dispute resolution matters.
