Ryul Kim is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1984 and holds bar number 113606. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Kim is the founder and principal attorney at Ryul Kim, Attorney at Law, a firm located in Irvine, California. He has been practicing law for over four decades, specializing in U.S.-Korea legal matters, and serves clients throughout Southern California.
Mr. Kim earned his Juris Doctor degree from Western State University College of Law in 1983. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Los Angeles, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 1980. During his time at Western State, he was selected for the Jessup International Moot Court, reflecting his commitment to international law.
Mr. Kim concentrates his practice in the areas of international law, maritime law, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR). He represents individuals and businesses in matters involving cross-border disputes, maritime issues, and provides arbitration and mediation services. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation and dispute resolution, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Kim has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Orange and the Superior Court of California for the County of San Diego. He has also served as an arbitrator and mediator for ADR Services, Inc. and the Orange County Superior Court. In addition, he has been appointed as a mediator for the Riverside County Superior Court. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as a neutral in various ADR capacities from 2010 to 2022.
Mr. Kim is an active member of the California State Bar Association and has been recognized with several awards, including the State Bar of California Board of Governors Award for Pro Bono Services and the Wiley Manuel Award for Pro Bono Services. He is also the founding president of the Orange County Korean American Bar Association and serves as the chair of the U.S.-Korea Law Foundation. Mr. Kim is fluent in English and Korean, allowing him to effectively serve the diverse communities of Southern California.
