About Ryan
Ryan Thomas graduated from Creighton University School of Law in 2009. He entered the legal field after law school and built a practice grounded in tax law and business matters. His academic training included the doctrinal and practical coursework typical of law school, and he moved quickly into practice that regularly intersects with federal tax rules.
Thomas is admitted to practice in Nebraska and before the U.S. Tax Court. Those credentials shape the everyday work he does. Appearing before the Tax Court requires attention to procedure and to the technical provisions of the Internal Revenue Code. He has handled matters that require briefs, negotiations with counsel and tax professionals, and courtroom appearances where factual record and statutory interpretation matter.
Early in his career Thomas spent time advising small businesses and individual taxpayers. That period gave him steady exposure to tax controversies, planning questions and compliance issues. He has worked on matters that range from tax return adjustments to structuring transactions so that tax consequences are clearer for clients. He also provides counsel on related business concerns that affect how tax rules apply in practice.
He maintains an active membership in the Nebraska State Bar Association. That involvement keeps him connected to changes in state and federal practice and to peers who handle complementary legal issues. He has participated in continuing legal education offerings and local bar activities that are aimed at staying current on procedural and substantive developments.
At RJT LAW P.C. L.L.O., Thomas handles client work that routinely involves preparing positions for administrative review and litigation in tax forums. His work includes drafting pleadings, developing factual records, and coordinating with accountants and financial advisers. Clients come to him when they need a lawyer who can explain complex tax concepts in plain language and then apply them to a client’s specific situation.
Outside of formal matters, he spends time tracking changes to tax regulations and court decisions that could affect clients. That habit helps him anticipate issues and advise clients on choices that have tax implications. He balances case work with advisory engagements and tailored planning projects.
Thomas currently practices at RJT LAW P.C. L.L.O., concentrating on tax controversy, tax planning and related business matters.
