About Ryan T.
Ryan T. Wojtowicz built his legal foundation at Western Michigan University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Humanities in 2004. He continued at Western Michigan University Cooley Law School and received his J.D. in 2009. During law school he studied criminal defense and solo practice, areas that would shape his later work.
His early career unfolded in Berrien County. In 2010 he served first as a law clerk and then as a magistrate in the Berrien County Trial Court. Those roles gave him regular contact with trial procedure, arraignments and pretrial matters. He moved into private practice over the next several years and spent time as an associate at Kotz Sangster Wysocki PC in 2013.
In 2014 he opened Wojtowicz Law, PLC and began operating as a solo practitioner. That move formalized a practice centered on criminal defense. He was admitted to practice before the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians in 2015, adding tribal court work to his repertoire. He holds membership in the State Bar of Michigan since 2009.
Wojtowicz’s case work has concentrated on criminal matters. He handles misdemeanor and felony charges, represents clients at arraignments and plea hearings, and takes cases through trial when needed. He also represents clients in OWI cases and maintains membership in the Michigan Association of OWI Lawyers. His memberships in the Criminal Defense Lawyers of Michigan and local bar associations reflect ongoing ties to the defense bar and to courts in southwestern Michigan.
Colleagues and court records show a practitioner who moves between courtroom appearances and the detailed negotiation work that precedes them. He has experience addressing evidentiary issues, motion practice and sentencing hearings. His admission to practice before the Pokagon Band tribal court means he has handled matters that cross both state and tribal jurisdictions.
Outside the courtroom he has been involved in local professional groups. He joined the Rotary Club in 2014 and has been a member of the Berrien County Bar Association since 2012. He was a member of the Cass County Bar Association from 2015 to 2018. His organizational ties provide regular contact with other lawyers and with local civic leaders.
He maintains an active law practice in Michigan through Wojtowicz Law, PLC, representing clients in criminal defense matters, including OWI and cases involving tribal court jurisdiction.
