About Ryan
Ryan Muir came to the law after studying history at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and earning a law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2017. He spent his law school years in courtrooms and public offices. Those early placements shaped how he approaches routine legal work and unexpected problems.
During law school Muir worked in several clerk roles. In 2015 he served at the First Judicial District Public Defender's Office. He later worked as a certified student lawyer in the Ramsey County Lawyer's Office. In 2017 he clerked for the Fourth Judicial District Court. Each position gave him sustained exposure to courtroom procedure and client-facing work.
After graduation he moved into private practice. In 2019 he joined Nicolet Law S.C. as a lawyer. The record shows he has been associated with the firm’s offices since then. His professional memberships include the Minnesota State Bar Association and the Hennepin County Bar Association, both since 2017, and the Washington County Bar Association since 2018. Those memberships reflect ongoing ties to the legal community across the state.
Muir is licensed to practice in Minnesota and Wisconsin. He has worked in both public service and private practice roles, which has given him a range of perspectives on how clients and courts interact. Colleagues describe him as steady in the courtroom and pragmatic when advising clients. He combines courtroom experience from his clerkships with the day-to-day demands of firm practice.
His path is a straightforward one: liberal arts undergraduate work, a law degree, a series of clerkships, and then firm practice. He continues to appear in matters that require familiarity with Minnesota and Wisconsin procedures and local court practices. He maintains an active practice representing clients in matters across Minnesota and Wisconsin.
