About Ryan J.
Ryan J. Hetzel studied law at Marquette University Law School and earned his J.D. in 1997. He moved from the classroom into courtrooms and offices in Wisconsin, where he is admitted to practice. His legal training at Marquette provided the foundation for a private-practice career that spans more than two decades.
Early in his career he established a presence in local practice. In 2002 he became a partner at Hetzel Law Office, LLC, taking on responsibilities that included case management and client counseling. Six years later he accepted a partner role at Hetzel & Nelson, LLC in 2008. Those years in partnership roles gave him experience running a firm and working closely with colleagues on a range of matters.
Colleagues and clients have known him for a steady, methodical approach. He handles matters in a manner that emphasizes preparation and clear communication. He spends time working through facts and helping clients understand their options. Court appearances and negotiations are part of his routine, and he balances litigation tasks with day-to-day client needs.
Over the course of his career he has kept his practice rooted in the Wisconsin legal community. He has maintained the responsibilities that come with partnership and private practice, including supervising staff and coordinating case strategy. That operational experience complements his legal work and informs how he manages files and client relationships.
As of 2026 he is in practice at Hetzel Law Office, LLC. He continues to represent clients through that firm, handling a range of legal matters and managing the responsibilities of private practice at the firm.
