About Ryan
Ryan Hamilton earned his J.D. from Lewis & Clark College in 2005. He moved into the Portland-area legal community soon after and began building a career that has centered on state and local practice. His early academic training included coursework and clinics common to Lewis & Clark graduates, and it set the stage for hands-on work in public and private settings.
Hamilton’s first recorded legal role was a 2007 internship with the Multnomah County District Attorney’s office. That experience placed him inside the courtroom environment and exposed him to trial procedures and prosecutorial practice. In 2008 he joined the Law Office of Susan Phillips Hammann as a lawyer. Around the same time he became a member of the Multnomah Bar Association and the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association, professional ties he maintains.
By 2011 Hamilton was practicing family law. Records show he worked that year at both Sherwood Family Law and at Blair & Vestigo, PC as a family law lawyer. Those positions involved the types of matters commonly handled by family law practitioners — case preparation, hearings, and negotiated settlements. He also maintains membership in the Sherwood Chamber of Commerce, reflecting an ongoing connection to the Sherwood community since 2013.
Hamilton is licensed by the Oregon State Bar. His bar-related memberships and his early prosecutorial internship give his practice a blend of courtroom familiarity and civil-law experience. Colleagues describe his path as steady rather than flashy. He has moved between roles in government, boutique practice, and firm settings, accumulating practical exposure to procedural work and client counseling.
Outside the office, Hamilton’s ongoing participation in local and professional associations has been part of his career rhythm. Memberships in the Multnomah Bar Association and the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association date to 2008 and remain current. He joined the Sherwood Chamber of Commerce in 2013 and has kept that local affiliation while practicing in the region.
Today Hamilton practices at Sherwood Family Law. His practice reflects years of family law work, courtroom exposure from early public service, and ongoing involvement in bar and community groups. He currently practices family law at Sherwood Family Law.
