Rusten Carlson Hurd is a founding partner at Colombo & Hurd, PL, a nationally recognized immigration law firm located at 301 E Pine Street, Suite 300, Orlando, Florida. Since its establishment, the firm has specialized in immigration and appellate law, serving clients across the United States. Mr. Hurd has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1998, marking over two decades of dedicated legal practice. His experience in immigration law has made him a sought-after attorney in the field. Mr. Hurd earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida, Fredric G — Levin College of Law, in 1998. Prior to pursuing his legal education, he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Florida State University in 1995.
While at the University of Florida, he demonstrated leadership and commitment to advocacy by serving as President of the Trial Competition Team in 1998 and participating in the Moot Court Team from 1997 to 1998. These experiences laid a strong foundation for his career in law, particularly in immigration and appellate matters. At Colombo & Hurd, Mr. Hurd focuses on many immigration issues — His expertise includes family-based petitions, deportation defense, and naturalization processes. He also has substantial experience in business-based immigration cases, such as EB-2 National Interest Waivers and EB-1A petitions for individuals of extraordinary ability. Additionally, he assists clients with employer-sponsored visas, including L-1, E-1/E-2, H-1B, and TN visas. A significant aspect of his practice involves guiding clients through the EB-5 investor visa program, where he provides strategic advice on investments and pathways to lawful permanent residency. Mr.
Hurd is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
