About Russell D.
Russell D. Bernstein built his legal foundation at the University of Florida, where he earned a B.A. in Criminal Justice in 1994. He continued his studies at Shepard Broad Law Center at Nova Southeastern University, receiving his J.D. in 1997. Those years shaped his courtroom instincts and set the stage for a practice centered in South Florida.
Soon after law school he launched his own firm. In 1997 he became president and owner of Russell D. Bernstein, P.A. He has operated the firm since then, developing a steady practice in the communities around Broward and Miami-Dade counties. Running a small firm has meant managing both the business and the legal work, and he has spent decades balancing those responsibilities.
His admissions reflect a mix of state and federal work. He is admitted to practice in Florida and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. He is also admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida and is a member of that court’s Trial Bar, which enables him to try matters in federal court. Those credentials allow him to handle cases that start in state court and move into the federal system.
Local and professional ties thread through his career. He holds current memberships in the Florida State Bar, the Broward Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Miami-Dade County Bar Association and the Broward County Bar Association. He is also a member of the City of Weston Chamber of Commerce. Those affiliations have kept him connected to peers, local judges and civic leaders, and they inform how he approaches cases that arise in the region.
Throughout his practice he has appeared in both state and federal forums in South Florida. His background in criminal justice combined with his long-standing memberships in criminal defense organizations make him a familiar presence in local courtrooms. He maintains his office under the firm name Russell D. Bernstein, P.A., where he continues to represent clients in criminal and federal matters.
He currently practices criminal defense and federal litigation from his firm in South Florida.
