About Roy
Roy Petty has spent decades building a practice that crosses state lines and international borders. He became managing lawyer of Petty & Associates, PLLC in 1994 and has led the firm through changes in immigration law and shifting client needs. His career has kept him close to courtroom work and client advocacy, while also growing an office footprint beyond a single city.
Early in his career he focused on immigration matters. Over time he expanded his practice across the United States and into Latin America. He is licensed to practice in Florida, Texas and Arizona. Those admissions allow him to appear for clients in multiple jurisdictions and to coordinate cross-border matters when cases require it.
He holds certification in Immigration & Nationality Law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. That credential signals a concentrated practice in immigration law and a continuing engagement with the technical rules that govern visas, naturalization, deportation defense and related processes. He also maintains current memberships in professional legal associations, which he uses to stay current on changes in law and policy.
Petty & Associates, PLLC operates from several offices. In Texas the firm maintains locations in Dallas and Amarillo. The firm also maintains offices in Bogotá and Medellín, Colombia. Those international offices reflect an emphasis on work involving clients from Latin America and on cross-border immigration matters. He supervises attorneys and staff across those locations and directs case strategy that spans more than one legal system.
Colleagues describe him as a hands-on manager who remains involved in major cases. He balances casework with the administrative demands of running a firm that operates in both the United States and Colombia. The firm’s structure allows him to handle individual petitions and larger matters that touch multiple jurisdictions.
Today he continues to practice immigration and nationality law from offices in Dallas, Amarillo, Bogotá and Medellín. He manages ongoing cases and consults on matters that cross state and national boundaries as part of his current practice focus.
