About Rovshan Chingiz
Rovshan Chingiz Sharifov earned his undergraduate degree in politics from New York University and later took his legal training at New York Law School, where he received his J.D. His academic path placed him in the heart of New York legal culture early on. The study of politics and law shaped the practical approach he brought to courtroom work and client counseling.
He began his public-service career in Nassau County. In 2002 he joined the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office as an assistant district lawyer. That period gave him steady exposure to courtroom procedure and the demands of prosecuting criminal cases. He spent those years learning the mechanics of trial work and the pace of public litigation.
By 2006 he moved into private practice and took on a leadership role as managing partner at Sharifov and Russell, LLP. That position put him on the business side of running a law firm as well as managing a caseload. Six years later he launched his own firm. In 2012 he founded Sharifov & Associates, PLLC, establishing offices on Long Island in Nassau County and in New York City, including Brooklyn. He has overseen the firm’s growth and its day-to-day operations since then.
His bar admissions include New York and the U.S. Supreme Court, which permits him to handle matters in state courts and to pursue cases that may move into the federal appellate arena. He maintains active memberships in several professional organizations. He belongs to the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and has been listed there since 2008. He is a member of the New York County Lawyers Association, a member of the Nassau County Bar Association since 2003, and has held membership in the Former Assistant District Lawyers Association beginning in 2006.
Over the years his practice has centered on litigation. The mix of early prosecutorial work and later private practice means he has handled matters from the office of the district attorney into civil and criminal defense in the courts. He has experience managing teams of lawyers and coordinating cases across multiple offices in the region.
He founded Sharifov & Associates, PLLC and continues to practice there. He focuses his practice on criminal defense and related litigation.
