About Rosemarie

Rosemarie Bruno is a lawyer who arrived at the law after an earlier commitment to social work, combining two professional registers in a compact practice. She finished law school near the top of her class and entered legal work with a background in psychology and social services. The result is an approach that often emphasizes communication and process as much as legal positions.

Bruno earned her J.D. from Touro College, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in 2002, graduating second in her class. While there she received the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Leadership and Overall Academic Excellence, the West Publishing Outstanding Scholastic Achievement Award for 2000–2001, and an award for contributions to the growth of the law center. She also holds an M.S.W. from Stony Brook University, completed in 2002, and a B.A. from Stony Brook in 1997. Her undergraduate record included election to Phi Beta Kappa and membership in Psi Chi and the Golden Key National Honor Societies, together with recognition for research in psychology.

Admitted to practice in New York, Bruno has built a practice that reflects both her legal training and her earlier social work education. She is known among peers for choosing dispute resolution processes when they can better serve clients’ long-term interests. Her experience spans negotiated settlements, mediated sessions and collaborative law matters. That mix mirrors a larger trend in family law toward alternatives to contested courtroom litigation.

Her credentials include NYS Office of Court Administration Certified Basic Mediation Training through the Education Assistance Corporation, specialized divorce mediation training from the Ackerman Institute for the Family, and collaborative law training through the New York Association for Collaborative Professionals. Those certifications underpin work in custody and parenting-time discussions, the division of assets, and the drafting of post-judgment agreements. Colleagues describe her tone in sessions as measured and pragmatic; clients are presented with options and clear explanations of the likely legal outcomes.

Bruno’s combined legal and social work background informs how she handles matters that involve children, mental health issues or complex interpersonal dynamics. She tailors the process to the parties’ circumstances and to the case’s practical needs rather than defaulting to litigation. She currently practices in New York, concentrating on family law, mediation and collaborative divorce.
