About Rory

Rory Mortimer has spent more than four decades practicing law in Michigan. He studied at Michigan State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1972 and a Juris Doctor in 1978. Those years set the foundation for a long career rooted in the state where he trained.

Soon after finishing law school, Mortimer opened his own office. In 1979 he became the managing member of Mortimer Law Office, PLC. He has run that firm since then. The firm has been a steady point of contact for clients needing help with matters often handled at the local level.

Mortimer’s credentials include participation in the Michigan Bar’s probate and estate planning program. He is also a current member of the Social Security Section of the Michigan Bar Association. Those ties to the bar reflect an orientation toward client needs in aging, incapacity and the transition of assets. They also suggest the kinds of day-to-day matters his practice addresses.

Over the years Mortimer has overseen cases that require careful navigation of probate administration and estate settlements. He assists families through the documentation and procedural steps that follow the death of a loved one. He prepares estate planning documents, advises on probate avoidance strategies, and handles the filings necessary to settle estates. The work often involves interaction with county probate courts and state agencies.

On Social Security issues, Mortimer helps clients understand benefit eligibility and the administrative process for claims and appeals. That work complements the estate and probate practice, particularly for clients facing age-related financial decisions or disability transitions. He maintains professional involvement in the bar section that focuses on these matters.

Mortimer’s career is defined by longevity and steady practice in Michigan. He continues to manage Mortimer Law Office, PLC and to provide direct counsel to clients. He is known among peers for the experience he brings to probate, estate planning and Social Security matters.

He currently concentrates his practice on estate planning, probate administration and Social Security matters in Michigan.
