About Ronak N
Ronak N Ray studied finance and economics at DePaul University before remaining at DePaul College of Law for his legal training. He earned a Juris Doctor and also completed a certificate in Intellectual Property Law. The combination of business and legal study informed the early shape of his career.
His professional path began in the consulting world. In 2004 he joined Accenture as legal counsel, handling transactions and compliance matters for a global services firm. He left consulting for in-house roles and by 2013 was senior corporate counsel at Sitecore, working on commercial agreements and corporate risk issues that accompany enterprise software deployment.
The next phase of his career moved him further into the technology and services sector. In 2017 he was named vice president and global head of legal and corporate secretary at TaskUs, where he handled corporate governance, cross-border contracting, and regulatory matters for an international outsourcing company. Two years later he took on the role of senior vice president and general counsel at Pantheon Platform, overseeing legal strategy for a platform company that serves web publishers and service providers.
In 2022 he co-founded modCounsel, Inc. and serves as its executive managing director. That role blends leadership of a legal services venture with day-to-day responsibilities for managing client relationships, internal compliance, and the delivery of legal support services. His background as an in-house attorney and corporate secretary informs how he structures legal teams and processes.
He is admitted to the bar in California and is a member of the California Bar Association. He also holds the International Privacy Professional (U.S.) certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals. His training in intellectual property law, combined with privacy credentials and years of corporate counsel experience, means his work touches on privacy, IP-related agreements, corporate governance, and commercial contracting in the technology sector.
Colleagues and clients describe him as someone who moves between strategy and execution. He has handled governance and transactional problems for large, distributed teams and has experience setting policies that align legal risk with business objectives. He currently concentrates on advising technology and services companies and overseeing legal operations at modCounsel, Inc.
