About Romben
Romben Aquino earned his law degree from Northeastern University School of Law in 2001 after completing undergraduate studies in political science at the University of California, Los Angeles in 1996. His academic path combined an urban, service-oriented law school education with a foundation in political theory and public affairs. He entered practice shortly after law school and moved into public-sector work early in his career.
His first post-law school role was a fellowship with the Public Service Law Network in 2001. He joined the New York City Commission on Human Rights as a staff lawyer in 2002 and served as counsel at the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs in 2004. Those positions placed him at the intersection of agency enforcement, regulatory compliance, and individual rights. In 2005 he moved into private practice at Ferro & Cuccia and later worked at John Perry & Associates, P.C. beginning in 2009. By 2011 he was operating under his own name as the Law Office of Romben Aquino, described that year as Lawyer and Counselor at Law. In 2015 he became a partner at Romben Law, the firm where he practices today.
Over the years Aquino has expanded the courts in which he is admitted to appear. He is licensed in California and New York and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court. His admissions also extend to multiple federal circuit courts — the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 9th and 11th Circuits — and to the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. He is a member of the State Bar of California and holds memberships in the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the Pilipino American Bar Association.
His work history touches both government enforcement and private advocacy. That variety shows through in matters that move between administrative hearings, trial courts and appellate panels. He has handled agency matters, civil litigation and court appeals. The progression from public service roles in New York City to private practice on the West Coast informs how he approaches procedural and substantive issues in cases.
Outside of his legal résumé he lists a personal recognition, "Father of the Year: My Two Kids," a brief note that reflects family life alongside his professional responsibilities. He maintains offices under the Romben Law name and continues to accept cases in state and federal forums. He represents clients in state and federal courts and handles litigation and appellate matters at Romben Law.
