About Roland

Roland Waller earned his Juris Doctor from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law in 1971 after completing a Bachelor of Science in Accounting at Tennessee Technological University in 1968. He came to law school with a grounding in numbers. That early training in accounting shaped how he approaches legal work.

He entered the practice of law in the early 1970s and has worked through decades of change in both the legal profession and the industries that rely on legal counsel. Over that time he developed an approach that pays close attention to financial records, tax considerations and the transactional details that often decide a case or a deal. He has balanced courtroom work and negotiated resolutions, applying an analytical eye to complicated documents.

Waller’s background in accounting informs his day-to-day work. Reading ledgers and reconciling statements are routine tasks for him, and those habits of careful review show up in matters that require precise financial analysis. Whether sorting through contract terms, examining corporate books or evaluating compliance questions, he has relied on that dual training to shape sound legal assessments.

Colleagues describe his style as methodical. He tends to break complex problems into discrete pieces and work through them one at a time. That temperament fits both transactional negotiation and litigation preparation. He adjusts strategy as facts emerge and as law and regulation evolve. Over the years he has seen shifts in practice management, technology and regulatory frameworks. He adapted practice habits to those changes rather than ignoring them.

Waller has maintained professional activity into later stages of his career. He has handled matters that require an intersection of financial and legal judgment. Clients and other lawyers often bring him problems that hinge on accurate accounting, careful contract drafting or clear interpretation of statutory requirements.

As of 2026 he continues to practice law and concentrates on matters that draw on his accounting background and long experience in the profession.
