About Roger Quentin

Roger Quentin Hyde is an attorney whose career spans several decades and multiple levels of the federal court system. He grew up academically engaged in Michigan, earned a Bachelor of General Studies from the University of Michigan in 1973 and later completed a Juris Doctor at Wayne State University Law School in 1980. Those academic years set the stage for a long-standing practice rooted in Michigan courts and federal appellate work.

His legal education placed him in Detroit’s legal community at a time of change. After law school he entered practice in the state, building a record of admissions that now includes the State of Michigan, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. That combination of state and federal admissions has defined much of his professional reach. It allows him to present matters in state trial courts and to file briefs and petitions at the appellate and national level when required.

Hyde’s work has been shaped by the procedural and substantive demands of appellate practice. Admission to the Sixth Circuit and the Supreme Court requires familiarity with appellate briefing and the rules that govern federal appellate procedure. Over the years he has worked within those procedural frameworks, preparing filings that respond to complex factual records and legal questions. He has also navigated the differing expectations of state and federal forums while advising clients on the practical consequences of appellate strategy.

Colleagues describe Hyde as a lawyer who relies on methodical preparation and careful attention to legal detail. He favors clear, concise written argument and steady courtroom advocacy when matters rise to oral argument. His background — an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan followed by a J.D. from Wayne State — reflects a long association with Michigan’s legal institutions and professional networks.

Outside of court admissions, Hyde’s career includes the routine responsibilities of private practice: counseling clients, drafting pleadings, and managing the docket pressures that come with litigation at multiple levels. His practice has adapted as the courts and rules have evolved, but it remains centered on matters that require navigating both state and federal processes.

He currently maintains admissions in Michigan, the Sixth Circuit and before the U.S. Supreme Court, and represents clients in state and federal matters, including those that proceed to appellate review.
