About Rodney

Rodney Townsend graduated from South Texas College of Law with a J.D. in 2000. He practices in Texas and built his career entirely in private practice. His early years in law began immediately after law school and set a steady course toward firm leadership.

His first position out of law school was as an associate at Provost Umphrey in 2000. He worked there in a litigation environment and gained hands-on courtroom experience. The role gave him a foundation in case preparation, motions practice and trial work.

In 2003 he moved into a partnership role at Barton, Price, McElroy and Townsend. As a partner he took on greater responsibility for client files and firm management. That period marked a shift from being an individual contributor to guiding case strategy and mentoring younger attorneys within the firm.

Townsend started his own firm, Townsend P.C., in 2008. As owner he has overseen the firm’s operations and case selection. He continues to handle litigation and represents clients in matters before Texas courts. Over the years he has remained active at the trial level and retained a hands-on role in courtroom proceedings.

Townsend has been a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice since 1999. Those memberships reflect a long-term engagement with organizations that support trial lawyers and civil litigation practice. He is admitted to practice in Texas and maintains that admission while running Townsend P.C.

Colleagues and clients describe him as someone who prefers direct management of cases and steady courtroom work rather than a purely administrative role. He balanced the demands of running a firm with a continuing caseload, and he still allocates time to try cases when they proceed to trial. He keeps his practice focused on litigation in Texas courts.

He concentrates his practice on litigation in Texas courts.
