About Rod
Rod Deus began his legal path at Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1979 and a Juris Doctor in 1985. He completed law school at a time when federal disability litigation was expanding, and he moved quickly into practice after graduation. The early years set the tone for a long career representing individuals in claims for Social Security disability benefits.
He was admitted to practice in Louisiana in 1985 and has since maintained a steady presence in the state’s legal community. He opened the Law Office of Rod Deus and has operated it as a small practice handling claimant-side matters. Over decades he has handled cases before the Social Security Administration, pursued appeals in federal district courts, and represented clients across Louisiana’s judicial districts.
Much of his work involves Social Security disability claims, administrative hearings, and post-hearing appeals. He represents clients before Administrative Law Judges and files appeals in the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana when necessary. His caseload typically includes initial claims, continuations, and appeals where the record requires further development in federal court. He balances individual client advocacy with the procedural work that federal practice requires.
Deus has participated in professional organizations that align with his practice. He joined the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives in 1989 and has maintained membership since then. He has been a member of the Fifth Circuit Organization of Social Security Claimant’s Representatives since 1993. He also belongs to the Louisiana State Bar Association, where his membership dates to 1985. Those affiliations have kept him engaged with changes in disability law and appellate practice across the Fifth Circuit.
Practically, his work straddles administrative hearings and federal litigation. He files and argues appeals in the federal districts that cover Louisiana, and he manages the procedural steps that often follow an unfavorable administrative decision. Clients who need representation through hearings and subsequent appeals can expect a practice built on long-term experience in claimant-side Social Security matters.
He continues to operate the Law Office of Rod Deus and focuses his practice on Social Security disability claims and related federal appeals.
