About Robin R.
Robin R. Zegen built a legal career that crosses state lines and courtroom doors. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Oklahoma City University in 1990 and completed her J.D. at Oklahoma City University School of Law in 1993. Those academic years set the stage for a practice that has spanned solo work, law firm partnerships, and the founding of a new office.
She began practicing independently in 1997 under the name Robin Rubrecht, Lawyer at Law. That period as a sole practitioner honed her case management and client counseling. In 2011 she joined The Law Office of Julie Johnson, PLLC as an associate, returning to firm work after years running her own practice. By 2019 she was a partner at Johnson Zegen Williams & Cannon, PLLC, where she handled family law matters alongside other attorneys. In 2024 she helped establish Zegen Law Office, PLLC, a firm that bears her name and reflects the arc of her professional life.
Zegen is licensed in both Oklahoma and Texas, and much of her professional activity has centered in Texas bar and county organizations. She is a member of the Texas Bar College and belongs to the Plano Bar Association. Locally, she has served in leadership roles; she has been secretary of the Frisco Bar Association since 2017 and was an active member of that association before taking the secretary post. She also participates in the Collin County Bar Association Family Law Section, the Texas Bar Association Family Law Section, and the Dallas Bar Association Family Law Section. Her involvement extends to the American Inns of Court, where she serves as a Master of the Bench.
Colleagues describe Zegen as practical in approach. She favors careful preparation and clear explanations over theatrical courtroom maneuvers. Her practice record shows steady engagement in family law issues, and she has often worked on cases that require negotiation as much as litigation. Clients who come to her office can expect a lawyer who knows how to move a case forward and how to manage the details that matter in family law proceedings.
Outside the office she remains active in local legal circles, attending bar events and mentoring newer lawyers through bar sections and Inns of Court programs. She also keeps abreast of procedural and substantive changes in Texas family law. Zegen now practices from Zegen Law Office, PLLC, and focuses her work on family law matters and related disputes.
