About Robert T DeMarco
Robert T DeMarco III trained in two very different classrooms. He earned a Juris Doctor from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1988 after completing undergraduate work at Syracuse University, where he studied political science, political philosophy and took a minor in Russian studies. Those years shaped a methodical approach to legal problems and an appetite for complex statutory work.
He began his legal career as a judicial law clerk in 1988 for the Honorable Geraldine Mund, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Central District of California. That clerkship gave him an inside view of bankruptcy proceedings and the practical realities judges face. It also provided an early grounding in federal procedure and the kinds of factual records that matter when bankruptcy issues reach appellate courts.
He is admitted to practice in California and Texas and is authorized to appear before the Ninth and Fifth Circuit Courts of Appeal. In Texas he earned board certification in consumer bankruptcy from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. That certification marks a sustained engagement with consumer insolvency law and periodic review of substantive knowledge and courtroom practice.
DeMarco has remained active in professional circles. He has served as a Master of the John C. Ford American Inn of Court since 2000 and holds longstanding membership in the State Bar of California dating back to 1988. He also maintains other professional memberships that date from the late 1990s. Those ties connect him to trial and appellate practitioners and to bankruptcy specialists around the region.
His work history centers on matters that arise in consumer bankruptcy and related proceedings. The clerkship experience and subsequent practice have kept him involved in contested hearings, plan confirmations and consumer defense counseling. Over time he has handled cases that require both courtroom advocacy and careful restructuring of individual debtor obligations.
He operates out of a Plano office in Texas. There he continues to accept matters that involve consumer bankruptcy and related issues, combining years of bankruptcy practice with federal appellate admissions and board certification in consumer bankruptcy.
