About Robert
Robert Schefter built a legal foundation on the study of language and the law. He earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Delaware and went on to receive his J.D. from Dickinson School of Law. Those early years shaped how he approaches cases: an attention to detail and an emphasis on persuasive written and oral argument.
Schefter has practiced law in Pennsylvania for many years. His courtroom work and case management have kept him rooted in state practice. He is active in local and statewide bar organizations, which has kept him plugged into developments affecting criminal practice and DUI defense across the Commonwealth.
He is a current member of the National College for DUI Defense, the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the York County Bar Association. Those memberships reflect the kinds of matters that regularly come through his office. Schefter handles criminal charges, including DUI cases, and represents clients at arraignments, pretrial hearings, trials, and sentencing proceedings. He often appears in county courts and works on cases that range from routine traffic-related offenses to more serious criminal allegations.
Colleagues describe Schefter as methodical. He prepares filings and trial exhibits, takes depositions when necessary, and advises clients on plea options and trial strategy. He draws on courtroom experience and bar association resources when building defenses. In smaller county settings he balances court calendar demands with direct client contact. In larger matters he coordinates with experts or co-counsel as the case requires.
His practice is based at the firm Senft, Schefter, & Ayers, where he shares responsibilities with partners and staff. The office handles regional criminal defense work and serves clients across Pennsylvania. Schefter’s local bar involvement includes participation in professional gatherings, continuing legal education programs, and peer networks that cover criminal procedure and evidence issues.
Outside court appearances, he spends time drafting motions and advising clients on potential collateral consequences of criminal convictions. That mix of courtroom work and written advocacy shapes his day-to-day practice. He currently represents clients in criminal and DUI matters at Senft, Schefter, & Ayers.
