About Robert S.
Robert S. Iwrey began his academic path in the sciences before turning to law. He earned a B.S. in Neuropsychology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1984. Six years later he took his law degree from Wayne State University Law School, receiving his J.D. in 1990.
His early legal work included a law clerk and associate role at Brescoll & Associates, P.C., beginning in 1991. He moved into higher responsibility at Wachler & Associates, P.C., where he served as an associate and later as a partner starting in 1999. He later helped establish The Health Law Partners, P.C., where he is a founding partner. Over the course of his career he has appeared in both state and federal proceedings and expanded his practice into federal courts.
He is admitted to practice in Michigan and New York, and he holds admissions to several federal courts including the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan, the Eastern District of Michigan and the Southern District of New York. He is also admitted pro hac vice to appear in courts across the nation when cases require it.
His professional affiliations reflect a sustained involvement in the intersection of law and health care. He holds memberships in the Michigan State Bar, the American Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association. He is active in health law circles through the American Health Lawyers Association and the State Bar of New York Health Care Law Section. Within the State Bar of Michigan’s Health Care Law Section he has served on the Executive Council and chaired the Pro-Bono Work Group; he has also served as chair of the Website Committee and worked on the Technology Subcommittee. Locally, he has served as chair of the Medical/Legal Committee for the Oakland County Bar Association.
Iwrey’s work has centered on legal matters that affect health care providers, institutions and professionals. His practice has involved litigation, regulatory questions and professional liability issues, and he has combined bar leadership and committee work with case work in courts and administrative settings.
He maintains an active role at The Health Law Partners, P.C., where he oversees client matters and continues involvement in courtroom litigation and health law policy matters. His current practice concentrates on health law and related litigation, regulatory and professional responsibility matters.
