About Robert R

Robert R Weed earned his undergraduate degree from Washington & Lee University in 1973 and his J.D. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law in 1976. He completed his formal legal education in the mid-1970s at a time when bankruptcy law was undergoing important changes. Those years set the stage for a long career centered on consumer bankruptcy matters.

After law school, Weed practiced in Virginia, where he has remained licensed. He spent years building experience in consumer law before creating his own practice. By the early 1990s he had turned his attention squarely to bankruptcy work, responding to the needs of individuals facing debt, foreclosure, and wage-related collections.

In 1993 he began operating as a bankruptcy lawyer under the name Bankruptcy Law Office of Robert Weed. He later also used the Law Office of Robert Weed as an operating name. Over time his office handled Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases and counseled clients on options for addressing secured and unsecured debt. He developed a practice that combined courtroom filings with negotiation and client counseling.

Weed’s professional affiliations reflect a long engagement with the bankruptcy and consumer advocacy communities. He has been a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Lawyers since 1995. He joined the American Bankruptcy Institute in 2001 and the National Association of Consumer Advocates in 2003. Since 2006 he has held membership in the Northern Virginia Bankruptcy Bar Association. Those memberships suggest steady involvement in the evolving practice and continuing legal education opportunities in his field.

Colleagues and clients describe his work as practical and detail-oriented. He has focused on the procedural and statutory aspects of consumer bankruptcy filings, including relief from creditor actions and restructuring through Chapter 13 plans. His courtroom work has often involved contested matters typical to consumer bankruptcies, as well as negotiation with trustees and creditors to reach workable resolutions for clients.

Today Weed continues to practice in Virginia under his office names, handling consumer bankruptcy cases and related matters. He remains active in the professional groups that track bankruptcy law developments and provides representation aimed at resolving debt problems for individuals in his community.
