About Robert
Robert Quimby built his legal foundation at Mississippi College School of Law, earning his J.D. in 2011. He entered the bar shortly after completing law school and moved quickly into private practice. The early years of any lawyer's career are formative and his were no exception: he learned courtroom procedure, client counseling and file management on the job.
He began his career as an associate at Smith, Phillips, Mitchell, Scott & Nowak, LLP in 2011. At that firm he handled a range of matters that required steady attention to deadlines and clear written work. Colleagues from that period recall a lawyer comfortable in the details of case preparation and steady under pressure. Those years provided a base for the next turn in his career.
In 2014 Quimby took on a municipal bench when he became a judge for the City of Hernando. The municipal assignment meant frequent hearings and a steady docket of local disputes. It also offered a different view of the legal system. Sitting on the bench altered how he weighed testimony and assessed courtroom presentation. The experience sharpened his sense of procedural fairness and gave him an appreciation for the practical side of local government and municipal ordinances.
After several years on the bench he returned to private practice. In 2020 he joined Mitchell, McNutt & Sams, P.A., where he resumed work as a lawyer. The move brought him back into a larger firm environment and into work that spans both Mississippi and Tennessee. His professional life since then has mixed courtroom appearances with negotiation and counsel to clients who need steady legal guidance across state lines.
Quimby holds legal authority to practice in Mississippi and Tennessee and maintains professional memberships that keep him connected to peers across the region. Those affiliations provide regular contact with changes in law and practice. He balances litigation experience, judicial perspective and firm-based practice in his day-to-day work. He currently practices law at Mitchell, McNutt & Sams, P.A., representing clients in matters across Mississippi and Tennessee.
