About Robert Neil

Robert Neil Rodgers built a path to law that began on a Southern California campus and continued into the classroom. He earned a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles, then took his law degree from Western State University College of Law. Those two schools shaped his early legal outlook and prepared him for practice and teaching.

After law school he entered practice in California. He is admitted to practice in the state and has combined courtroom and classroom work during his career. Over time he moved into legal education as well as practice. He served as a visiting professor at Trinity Law School, where he taught and mentored law students while remaining engaged with matters in California law.

The visiting professorship gave Rodgers a steady outlet for the parts of the profession that involve training new lawyers. He has lectured on doctrine and procedure and overseen student projects. Students and colleagues encountered a teacher who favors clear explanations and practical examples. His work in the classroom ran alongside a continuing involvement in legal affairs outside the academy.

Rodgers maintains memberships in professional associations. Those ties place him in regular conversation with other California practitioners and with legal educators. He has used those networks to keep current on changes in state law and on developments in legal pedagogy. That blend of practice and teaching has been a consistent theme in his career.

Colleagues describe him as steady and unostentatious. He prefers the day-to-day work of preparing students and clients rather than publicity. His career has been marked by a steady presence at the intersection of practice and instruction, rather than by a single public case or headline.

In recent years he has continued teaching at Trinity Law School and remains active in California legal circles. He divides his time between classroom responsibilities and legal work within the state. He currently centers his work on legal education and on issues arising under California law.
