Robert Martin Dowd is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1976. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Dowd is a partner at Griswold LaSalle Cobb Dowd & Gin LLP, a full-service law firm located in Hanford, California. He has been practicing law for over four decades, serving clients throughout the Central Valley region.
Mr. Dowd earned his Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law in 1976, graduating magna cum laude. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at San Francisco State University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1968. During his time at California Western, he was recognized for his academic excellence, graduating with honors. Additionally, Mr. Dowd served as a Retired Colonel in the United States Marine Corps, demonstrating his commitment to public service.
Mr. Dowd concentrates his practice in the areas of civil litigation, government law, and agricultural cooperatives. He represents individuals and businesses in matters involving business disputes, government regulations, and agricultural cooperative issues. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to joining Griswold LaSalle Cobb Dowd & Gin LLP in 1981, he served as a Retired Colonel in the United States Marine Corps, where he was an honor graduate of The Basic School in 1969. His military service has contributed to his disciplined and strategic approach to legal practice.
Mr. Dowd is an active member of several professional organizations, including the International Society of Barristers, the American College of Trial Lawyers, and the American Board of Trial Advocates. He has served on the Board of Trustees for California Western School of Law from 1992 to 1995 and has been involved in the Veterans Advisory Group for the 17th Congressional District from 1997 to 2004. He is also a member of the Kings County Bar Association, where he served as President from 1987 to 1988. Mr. Dowd is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of the Central Valley effectively.
