About Robert L.
Robert L. Reilman built a path to law that started in the classroom. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Colorado–Colorado Springs in 1994. He stayed in academic study of ideas and completed a Master of Arts in Philosophy at Western Michigan University in 2001. He then turned to legal study and received his J.D. from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 2006.
After law school, Reilman became licensed to practice in Michigan and in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan. Those admissions allowed him to handle matters in both state and federal settings. He has combined courtroom work with community-oriented legal service over many years.
Since 2009 Reilman has volunteered at the Douglass Community Association Legal Clinic. He took on that work soon after beginning to participate in the local bar community, and he has continued that volunteer role. He also joined the Kalamazoo County Bar Association the same year. Within that organization he serves on the Pro Bono Committee, helping to shape how the county meets unmet legal needs.
Reilman runs a private practice under the name Robert L. Reilman PLC. The office serves clients who need representation in Michigan courts and in the federal district that covers the western part of the state. He manages the everyday work of the firm while staying involved in pro bono efforts and local legal matters.
Colleagues describe him as steady and practical in handling cases. The combination of graduate-level study in philosophy and legal training informs his approach. He tends to frame legal questions with an emphasis on clear reasoning and careful analysis. That background also shapes how he interacts with clients and with opposing counsel.
Beyond the clinic and the bar association, Reilman’s presence in the local legal community is seen in routine case work and committee participation. He has kept a steady role in Kalamazoo-area legal life for more than a decade. His volunteer work at the Douglass Community Association Legal Clinic and ongoing membership on the Kalamazoo County Bar Association Pro Bono Committee reflect a sustained engagement with public-service legal work.
He practices through Robert L. Reilman PLC, representing clients in Michigan state courts and in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan.
