About Robert

Robert Kester took a nontraditional path into law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from North Carolina State University in 2009 and returned to study law more than a decade later, receiving his J.D. from Elon University School of Law in 2021. The combination of a liberal arts background and a recent legal education shapes a practical approach to cases. He moves between concise analysis and attention to procedural detail.

He is admitted to practice in North Carolina. After finishing law school in 2021, he began practicing in the state’s courts and administrative forums. The early years of any attorney’s career are often about establishing a rhythm: learning how local judges manage dockets, how opposing counsel negotiate, and how to present facts clearly. Kester has built his practice around those fundamentals.

At Elon University School of Law he completed the coursework required for the J.D. and stepped into practice amid a changing legal landscape. His undergraduate study of history offered a different kind of training: parsing sources, weighing competing narratives, and writing under pressure. Those skills appear in his legal work, where clear written and oral presentation matters.

Kester works out of The Rawlings Law Office, PLLC. There he handles client matters that require navigation of state procedures and deadlines. He represents clients who need an attorney familiar with North Carolina rules and local practice. The firm setting provides access to colleagues and resources that help manage cases from intake through resolution.

Colleagues describe him as pragmatic and steady in the courtroom and in client meetings. He approaches each matter in a measured way. He prioritizes explaining options and likely outcomes so clients can make informed decisions. That straightforward style fits the types of disputes and transactions he sees in day-to-day practice.

Outside of court filings and client meetings, Kester keeps up with changes to state law and local rules. He reads decisions, follows procedural developments, and applies what he learns to client matters. He also draws on his undergraduate training when researching historical background that bears on legal questions. He currently practices at The Rawlings Law Office, PLLC, representing clients throughout North Carolina.
