About Robert Francis Mirque
Robert Francis Mirque Jr. began a path that combined science and law. He earned a chemistry degree from the University of Chicago in 1980. He followed that with a biology degree from Grand Valley State University in 1985. He completed his legal studies at Wayne State University Law School, finishing his J.D. in 1992.
He started his legal career the same year at the Kent County Office of the Defender. That early experience placed him in court regularly and exposed him to the procedural realities of trial practice. In 1995 he moved into private practice at Kluczynski, Girtz and Vogelzang. There he worked on matters that broadened his courtroom experience and introduced him to the demands of representing private clients.
In 2001 he established Mirque Law PLLC. The firm has been his vehicle for practice since then. Over more than two decades he has maintained a roster of admissions that includes the Eastern District of Michigan, the Western District of Michigan and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, in addition to the Michigan state courts. Those entries reflect sustained federal and state litigation activity rather than a single narrow specialty.
His time as a public defender early in his career informs how he approaches cases. It taught him how to manage heavy caseloads, evaluate evidence quickly and make practical decisions under pressure. His years in private practice added client counseling, motion work and more complex procedural strategy to that foundation.
Colleagues describe him as steady and pragmatic in court. That steadiness has been a constant as he moved from a county defender’s office to a private firm and then to his own practice. He has kept current with the rules and maintained professional memberships. He has practiced across trial and appellate forums in Michigan and in the federal courts where he is admitted.
Clients and peers see a lawyer who combines courtroom experience with persistent attention to procedural detail. He handles filings in both district courts and the Sixth Circuit and manages cases from initial pleadings through appeals when necessary. He continues to accept cases through Mirque Law PLLC, practicing in Michigan and in the federal courts listed on his admissions.
