About Robert
Robert Ehrenberg built a legal life out of steady progression and long ties to his community. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Valparaiso University and later completed his legal studies at Valparaiso University School of Law. Those early academic years laid a groundwork that carried him from a county courthouse into private practice.
Ehrenberg began his professional career in public service. In the mid-1970s he served as a judicial law clerk at the Berrien County Circuit Court. That clerkship gave him an inside view of trial procedures, case management and the rhythm of court calendars. It also connected him to local judges and lawyers who would shape his next steps.
Within a few years he moved into private practice. By 1979 he was a partner in the firm Butzbaugh & Ehrenberg. He spent decades building a trial practice there, handling contested matters in state court and representing clients at hearings and trials. In 2001 he became a partner at Conybeare Law Office, continuing his courtroom work and maintaining an active role in litigation for clients across the region.
Ehrenberg’s professional life has included extensive involvement in bar and trial organizations. He has held leadership posts at the local level, including a past term as secretary of the Berrien County Bar Association and a past vice presidency of the Berrien County Trial Lawyers Association. He is a member of the Michigan Association for Justice and the American Association for Justice, and count membership in the Million Dollar Advocates Forum among his professional affiliations. These memberships reflect a practice that has long engaged with civil litigation and the trial bar.
Colleagues describe him as deliberate at the podium and pragmatic in preparing cases. He has tried matters in front of juries and judges, and he is admitted to practice in Michigan and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. That mix of state and federal practice has defined much of his courtroom calendar over the years.
Now in a practice that spans local and appellate work, Ehrenberg continues to handle litigation matters in Michigan courts and in the Sixth Circuit. He remains active in local bar groups and trial organizations and continues to represent clients in contested civil proceedings.
