About Robert D.
Robert D. Boyd entered the legal profession after earning his J.D. from The John Marshall Law School in 1975, following a B.A. from Elmhurst College in 1971. He trained at a time when courtroom work still dominated legal education. The dates mark more than four decades of practice in Illinois.
In 1975 he was a felony trial lawyer in the DuPage County Public Defender's Office and also practiced under the name Law Offices of Robert Boyd. Those early years put him in front of juries and judges. They shaped the kind of hands-on litigation work that has defined much of his career.
Since 1995 he has been a partner at The Stogsdill Law Office, P.C. That partnership followed a long stretch of trial and private practice. At the firm he has continued to handle contested matters in court and to advise clients on procedural and substantive issues that arise in criminal and family law settings.
Boyd's professional activities extend beyond casework. He serves as a delegate from DuPage County to the Illinois State Bar Association. Locally he participates in several committees of the DuPage County Bar Association, including Professional Responsibility, Criminal Law, and Family Law. Those assignments involve both case-related ethics questions and the practical problems attorneys face in court and client service.
He is also active in the DuPage County Evaluation Program. That program role includes membership on numerous committees and work on a subcommittee charged with organizational rule changes. The committee work points to an interest in how the local legal system evaluates cases and counsel, and in the rules that govern those processes.
Colleagues describe Boyd as an attorney who has spent decades in the trial arena. He has handled felony-level matters and family court issues, and he has been involved in the professional governance that shapes practice in DuPage County. He maintains a courtroom-oriented practice while also participating in the bar activities that touch on ethics and evaluation procedures.
He practices in Illinois and is a partner at The Stogsdill Law Office, P.C., where his recent work continues to involve criminal defense and family law matters.
